How to measure for a Whippet collar
- Wrap a soft tape measure around the top of your dog’s neck—just behind the ears and under the chin.
- Note the measurement in inches — this is your dog's neck measurement.
- Choose the size where that measurement falls within the range, ideally towards the smaller end to allow for adjustment.
This is the narrowest part of your dog’s head, and measuring here helps reduce the risk of your Whippet slipping out of their collar.
Example:
If your dog's measurement is 12", choose the 11" to 13" size. This means the collar adjusts between 11 and 13 inches — it does not mean the total length of the collar is 13".
If measuring from an existing collar, measure from the end of the leather to the hole you use — not the total length of the collar. The total length will result in a collar that's too big.

Our padded leather Whippet collar is ideal for dogs that may need a little extra comfort. At 1.75″ wide, the collar offers the support needed for your Sighthound, and the layer of padding hidden under the calf leather lining feels dreamy against their neck.
Pick two colours of leather, one for the outer and one for the lining, then we’ll get to work. We’ll stitch the collar using thread that matches the lining giving you a stylish contrast. The padded Whippet collar is fitted with stainless steel hardware that won’t rust or tarnish, so there’s no need to worry if you get caught in a downpour.

Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty. Postage costs are non-refundable on change-of-mind returns. For US orders, tariffs and duties are non-refundable.

FAQs
How long will my order take?
All collars and leads are made to order. We typically dispatch within 7 working days, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 adding 2–3 further working days in the UK. Most orders arrive within 5–10 working days. A dispatch notification is sent by email. If you need a collar by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange my collar if it doesn't fit?
Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. The most common reason for a poor fit is measuring the total length of an existing collar rather than the dog's neck directly. What type of collar is best for a Whippet?
Whippets are a sighthound breed, which means they have a narrow, tapered head that is slimmer than their neck. This is the opposite of most breeds, and it means a standard flat collar sized to fit the neck will simply slide straight off over the head. A sighthound collar solves this with a wider central section, often called a fishtail shape, which is broader than the neck when the collar is worn. This makes it more difficult for the collar to slip over the head, while the tapered ends sit neatly behind the ears for a comfortable, secure fit.
How do I clean a leather dog collar?
A wipe with a damp cloth after muddy walks is usually enough to keep our leather collars looking good. For more stubborn stains, perhaps your dog has been rolling in fox poo, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the damp cloth and gently wipe the affected area. If your dog has been swimming, particularly in the sea, give the collar a wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue or salt from the leather.
