Measuring Your Iggy’s Neck
To measure for one of our walking collars, use a soft tape measure and follow these steps:
- Gently wrap the tape around the top of your dog’s neck—just behind the ears and under the chin.
- Make sure the tape is touching the fur but not tight.
- Note the measurement in inches or centimetres.
This is the narrowest part of the neck, so by measuring at this point you reduce the chance of your Iggy being able to back out of their collar.
Tip: Choose the collar size where your dog’s neck measurement is as close as possible to the smallest hole in the size range. That way, you’ve got room to adjust if needed.
Measuring an Existing Collar
Already have a collar that fits well? Lay it flat and measure from the end of the leather by the buckle (where the prong sticks out) to the hole you use most often.
Let’s say that measurement is 10″. You’d then choose our 9″ – 11″ size range, where 10″ sits neatly in the middle.
The most important thing to note when measuring an existing collar though is DO NOT MEASURE THE TOTAL LENGTH OF THE COLLAR. You need to measure from the buckle end of the collar to the hole that you use.
