This is the narrowest part of your dog’s head, and measuring here helps reduce the risk of your Whippet slipping out of their collar.
Example:
If your dog's measurement is 15", choose the 14" to 16" size. This means the collar adjusts between 14 and 16 inches — it does not mean the total length of the collar is 16".
If measuring from an existing collar, measure from the end of the leather to the hole you use — not the total length of the collar. The total length will result in a collar that's too big.

A wide leather collar designed for lurchers, Greyhounds, Salukis and other large sighthound breeds. Features a hand-cut leather bone in a choice of 28 colours of Italian calf leather.
Handmade to order and dispatched within 7 business days, with free UK delivery.
If you’d like something a bit different for your lurcher rather than just another plain leather collar, then the Wishbone leather lurcher collar may be just what you’ve been searching for. Made in a choice of 28 colours of soft Italian calf leather, the collar features a large hand-cut leather bone inlaid into centre.
Our Greyhound and lurcher collars are 2″ wide, offering the support needed for larger sighthound breeds, and taper to a 1″ wide buckle strap. The fishtail design helps prevent your dog backing out of the collar.
Made from premium Italian calf leather, the collar may feel a little firm initially, but as with all good quality leather, it will soften up more and more as it is used until it feels like butter.
Wrap a soft tape measure around the narrowest part of the neck (usually from under the chin and around behind the ears) so that it's loosely touching the fur.
Don't add any fingers underneath the tape measure.
Please enter a valid measurement.

Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. The most common reason for a poor fit is measuring the total length of an existing collar rather than the dog's neck directly. Full details are on our returns and exchanges page at petiquettecollars.co.uk/returns.
Greyhounds and lurchers are sighthound breeds, which means they have a narrow, tapered head that is slimmer than their neck. This is the opposite of most breeds, and it means a standard flat collar sized to fit the neck will simply slide straight off over the head. A sighthound collar solves this with a wider central section, often called a fishtail shape, which is broader than the neck when the collar is worn. This makes it more difficult for the collar to slip over the head, while the tapered ends sit neatly behind the ears for a comfortable, secure fit.
Your leather collar can be made in 28 Italian leather colours: Acorn, Baby Blue, Baby Pink, Black, Bottle Green, Candyfloss, Chianti, Daffodil, Dove, Dusky Pink, Easter Rose, Jaffa, Lime, Madeira Blue, Mushroom, Olive, Peanut Butter, Purple Velvet, Royal Purple, Ruby, School Grey, Shamrock, Signal Blue, Spearmint, Teal, Thistle, White, and Willow.
A wipe with a damp cloth after muddy walks is usually enough to keep our leather collars looking good. For more stubborn stains, perhaps your dog has been rolling in fox poo, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the damp cloth and gently wipe the affected area. If your dog has been swimming, particularly in the sea, give the collar a wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue or salt from the leather.
