This is the narrowest part of your dog’s head, and measuring here helps reduce the risk of your Whippet slipping out of their collar.
Example:
If your dog's measurement is 15", choose the 14" to 16" size. This means the collar adjusts between 14 and 16 inches — it does not mean the total length of the collar is 16".
If measuring from an existing collar, measure from the end of the leather to the hole you use — not the total length of the collar. The total length will result in a collar that's too big.

This soft leather fishtail collar is a perfect mix of timeless design and contemporary style. Handmade from supple Italian leather, it features a contrasting leather diamond at the centre—an understated detail that makes a big impact.
You can customise the collar to suit your dog’s personality. Choose a base colour, then add a pop of contrast for the diamond. Whether you prefer bold shades or subtle tones, there’s a combination to match your hound’s look.
The collar is lined with the same soft calf leather for a smooth, comfortable fit. With no rough edges and a strong leather core hidden inside, it offers both durability and long-lasting comfort.
Designed to support your sighthound’s neck, the fishtail shape is 2” wide at its broadest point, tapering to a 1” strap and buckle, with a D-ring for easy lead attachment.

Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. The most common reason for a poor fit is measuring the total length of an existing collar rather than the dog's neck directly. Full details are on our returns and exchanges page at petiquettecollars.co.uk/returns.
Greyhounds and lurchers are sighthound breeds, which means they have a narrow, tapered head that is slimmer than their neck. This is the opposite of most breeds, and it means a standard flat collar sized to fit the neck will simply slide straight off over the head. A sighthound collar solves this with a wider central section, often called a fishtail shape, which is broader than the neck when the collar is worn. This makes it more difficult for the collar to slip over the head, while the tapered ends sit neatly behind the ears for a comfortable, secure fit.
Your leather collar can be made in 28 Italian leather colours: Acorn, Baby Blue, Baby Pink, Black, Bottle Green, Candyfloss, Chianti, Daffodil, Dove, Dusky Pink, Easter Rose, Jaffa, Lime, Madeira Blue, Mushroom, Olive, Peanut Butter, Purple Velvet, Royal Purple, Ruby, School Grey, Shamrock, Signal Blue, Spearmint, Teal, Thistle, White, and Willow.
A wipe with a damp cloth after muddy walks is usually enough to keep our leather collars looking good. For more stubborn stains, perhaps your dog has been rolling in fox poo, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the damp cloth and gently wipe the affected area. If your dog has been swimming, particularly in the sea, give the collar a wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue or salt from the leather.
