Measuring your dog's neck for a half-check collar is easy. The most important thing to remember is that the collar needs to expand enough to slide on and off over the head, but have the room to tighten to allow control.
That's why you'll need two measurements to get an accurate fit:
1. Measure around the widest part of the head - this is usually around the ears.
2. Measure the mid point of the neck - where the collar will sit during walks.
Enter these two measurements when ordering and we'll craft a half-check collar that will fit perfectly.
Important note - Don't add any fingers underneath the tape measure as that will result in a collar that is too large.

Made by hand using the softest Italian leather, this collar features a contrasting lining colour to give it a stylish edge while offering long-lasting comfort.
Unlike traditional martingales made with fabric or leather loops, this collar uses a high-quality stainless steel check chain, adding a sleek finish and gentle correction when needed. Available in four widths to suit a variety of breeds, it’s important to note that narrower widths will have lighter chains, so may not be suitable for strong pullers or very large dogs.
This collar is designed to sit loose while walking but will gently tighten if your dog begins to pull or tries to back out—giving you peace of mind without compromising comfort. Rounded edges help prevent irritation or rubbing, and a soft leather lining means it feels great from the first wear.
To get the best fit, be sure to measure the widest part of your dog’s head (usually around the ears), as the collar must slip on easily without being too loose.

How long will my order take?
All collars and leads are made to order. We typically dispatch within 3–7 working days, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 adding 2–3 further working days in the UK. Most orders arrive within 5–10 working days. A dispatch notification is sent by email. If you need a collar by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange my collar if it doesn't fit?
Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. The most common reason for a poor fit is measuring the total length of an existing collar rather than the dog's neck directly. How do I clean a leather dog collar?
A wipe with a damp cloth after muddy walks is usually enough to keep our leather collars looking good. For more stubborn stains, perhaps your dog has been rolling in fox poo, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the damp cloth and gently wipe the affected area. If your dog has been swimming, particularly in the sea, give the collar a wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue or salt from the leather.
