Made just for Whippets, this leather Whippet collar is soft, supportive, and tailored to fit their long necks. Handmade from Italian calf leather in your choice of 28 colours, it’s designed for both comfort and style.
The fishtail shape is 1.75″ at its widest point, tapering to a slim ¾” strap that fastens with a secure stainless steel buckle. This wider front offers gentle support while helping to prevent the collar from slipping over the head — ideal for Whippets and other medium sighthounds.
The Whippet collar is lined with the same buttery-soft Italian leather, finished with smooth, rounded edges. You can also choose to add discreet padding beneath the lining for an extra layer of comfort. Each collar is made to order in our Northumberland workshop and finished with rust-proof stainless steel hardware.

FAQs
What type of collar is best for a Whippet?
Whippets have slim necks and heads that are narrower than their necks, which makes it easy for a normal flat collar to slip off. A Whippet collar has a wider section at the front, often called a fishtail shape, which spreads pressure evenly and keeps your dog safe without discomfort. What size collar is best for a Whippet?
Most adult Whippets need a collar that measures between 10 and 14 inches, but the best way to be sure is to measure your dog’s neck. Use a soft tape measure just behind the ears and under the chin, where the collar will sit. Choose the size range where your dog’s neck measurement is closest to the smallest hole, as this allows room for adjustment. Our whippet collar size guide has full instructions.
Is this collar padded?
Padding is optional. You can choose to add a hidden layer of soft padding beneath the Italian leather lining for extra comfort, which some Whippet owners prefer if their dog has a very fine coat. Whether padded or not, the leather softens naturally as it’s worn, so both versions are comfortable for daily use.
How do I clean a leather Whippet collar?
Cleaning is simple. For everyday dirt, wipe the collar gently with a damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn marks, add a tiny drop of mild washing-up liquid, then wipe away any soap with clean water. How to measure for a Whippet collar
Use a soft tape measure and follow these steps:
- Place the tape around the top of your dog’s neck—just behind the ears and under the chin.
- Keep the tape snug, but not tight.
- Note the measurement in inches or centimetres.
This is the narrowest part of your dog’s head, and measuring here helps reduce the risk of your Whippet slipping out of their collar.
Tip: Choose a size where your dog’s neck measurement is closest to the smallest hole in the size range. This gives you a bit of room for adjustment.
How to measure an existing collar
If you have an existing collar that's a perfect fit, then follow the guide below:
Take a look at our size chart below and choose a size where the measurement you have taken from your existing collar falls as close to the middle of the range.
For example, if the length of your existing collar from the end of the leather to the hole you use is 12", then you'd choose a size 11" - 13". This will give you room to tighten or slacken the collar.
If you're at all unsure, please do get in touch. We'd rather you receive the perfect fit for your dog first time.

Delivery Information
- Handmade to order, we aim to dispatch within 3-7 working days (Monday-Friday)
- UK Orders dispatched by Royal Mail Tracked 48, which normally takes 2-3 working days
- International Mail dispatched by Royal Mail International Tracked, then handed to local postal service in destination country. Timescales vary from country to country.

The EU
We are IOSS registered - this means that for orders up to €150, any VAT or import tax is collected at checkout, so it's already taken care of. You won’t need to pay anything extra when your parcel arrives, helping you avoid unexpected customs charges or delivery delays.
Unfortunately, due to IOSS regulations, we're unable to process orders to the EU over €150 at this time.
The US
Since August 29th 2025, all orders to the United States are subject to the new Trump tariffs. We automatically calculate and add the tariff and customs duties to your order at checkout, so there are no surprise charges when your collar arrives.
UAE, Qatar, & Saudi Arabia
Due to issues with Royal Mail handing over to local postal services in the UAE, Qatar & Saudi Arabia, we only offer courier services to these destinations.
All other international destinations
For all destinations outside of the USA and the EU we do not add any taxes or duties on international orders, which means that for delivery outside the United Kingdom they may be subject to import duties and taxes.
