Measuring your dog's neck for a half-check collar is easy. The most important thing to remember is that the collar needs to expand enough to slide on and off over the head, but have the room to tighten to allow control.
That's why you'll need two measurements to get an accurate fit:
1. Measure around the widest part of the head - this is usually around the ears.
2. Measure the mid point of the neck - where the collar will sit during walks.
Enter these two measurements when ordering and we'll craft a half-check collar that will fit perfectly.
Important note - Don't add any fingers underneath the tape measure as that will result in a collar that is too large.

If your dog’s a bit of an escape artist, our Adjustable Leather Half Check Collar could be just the thing. Designed for both style and security, it’s handmade from luxuriously soft Italian leather in your choice of colours, with the option of a contrasting lining to suit your dog’s personality.
Unlike standard martingales, this collar features a stainless steel check chain and a traditional buckle fastening, giving you the best of both worlds—style and easy adjustability. It’s available in four widths to suit most breeds, but do bear in mind that the narrower the collar, the lighter the chain. While it’s perfect for most dogs, very strong pullers or hefty breeds may benefit from a wider option for extra durability.
The check chain allows the collar to sit comfortably loose during walks but tightens gently if your dog pulls or tries to back out. Thanks to the buckle, you can fine-tune the fit, ensuring maximum comfort without compromising on control.
As with all Petiquette collars, the edges are rounded and the lining is soft, helping to prevent irritation or rubbing around the neck.
To get the best fit, measure the widest part of your dog’s head (usually around the ears), and use the buckle to adjust for a snug but comfy fit.

How long will my order take?
All collars and leads are made to order. We typically dispatch within 3–7 working days, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 adding 2–3 further working days in the UK. Most orders arrive within 5–10 working days. A dispatch notification is sent by email. If you need a collar by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange my collar if it doesn't fit?
Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. The most common reason for a poor fit is measuring the total length of an existing collar rather than the dog's neck directly. What leather colours can my collar be made in?

How do I clean a leather dog collar?
A wipe with a damp cloth after muddy walks is usually enough to keep our leather collars looking good. For more stubborn stains, perhaps your dog has been rolling in fox poo, add a small amount of washing up liquid to the damp cloth and gently wipe the affected area. If your dog has been swimming, particularly in the sea, give the collar a wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue or salt from the leather.
