The Ridge is made for dogs and owners who like things simple but smart. Its wider shape makes it stand out against any coat, and you can choose from 28 leather colours to create a look that suits your dog perfectly.
Each collar’s handmade in our Northumberland workshop from soft Italian leather and lined with the same smooth leather so it feels comfortable against your dog’s neck. There’s a small ridge running through the middle, just a nice bit of detail that sets it apart from a plain collar without being over the top.
Smaller sizes are 1 inch wide and taper to a ? inch buckle. Medium and large sizes are 1.25 inches wide and taper to a buckle that fits the collar’s proportions. You can also add a layer of padding if your dog prefers something a bit softer around the neck.
Every Ridge collar’s finished with a solid stainless steel buckle and D-ring that won’t rust or dull, no matter how many muddy walks or wet days you get through.
Check out the size guide below to make sure you get the perfect fit for your pup.
How do I measure my dog for a leather collar?
Use a soft tape and wrap it around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. Keep it flat against the coat but not tight. Then pick the collar size where your measurement sits close to the smallest number in the range. That way, you’ll have a good fit with room to adjust if needed.
Is a leather dog collar comfortable for everyday wear?
Yes. Good leather softens and shapes to your dog’s neck the more it’s worn. Ours are made from Italian calf leather and lined with the same soft leather on the inside, so there’s nothing rough against the skin. They’re strong enough for daily walks and comfy enough to wear all day.
Why choose a wide leather collar for your dog?
A wider collar spreads the pressure across your dog’s neck, so it’s comfy for everyday walks. It also looks great on dogs with longer necks or thick coats, where a narrow collar can disappear in the fur. The extra width shows off more of the leather, so the colour really stands out.
How do I clean and care for a leather dog collar?
Just wipe it with a damp cloth after a walk and let it dry naturally. If it gets muddy, let the dirt dry first, then brush it off gently. A bit of leather conditioner now and then keeps it soft and looking good.
Use a soft tape measure (or a piece of string) and wrap it around the middle of your dog’s neck.
Make sure it’s fairly snug against the fur but not tight. No need to add fingers underneath – we’ve already allowed for a comfy fit in the sizing.
This is your dog’s neck measurement.
Now check our size chart and choose a collar where your dog’s neck measurement is closest to the smallest hole in the size range.
Example:
If your dog’s neck measures 10", you’ll need a collar listed as 9"–11", as this adjusts between 9 and 11 inches.
PLEASE DON’T MEASURE THE FULL LENGTH OF AN EXISTING COLLAR – this is not your dog’s neck measurement and will result in a collar that’s too big.
If you feel your dog has a neck measurement that is in between sizes and you're unsure which would be the best fit, please get in touch and we'll be able to advise.
If you have an existing collar that's a perfect fit, then follow the guide below:
Take a look at our size chart below and choose a size where the measurement you have taken from your existing collar falls as close to the middle of the range.
For example, if the length of your existing collar from the end of the leather to the hole you use is 13", then you'd choose a size 12" - 14". This will give you room to tighten or slacken the collar.
If you're at all unsure, please do get in touch. We'd rather you receive the perfect fit for your dog first time.
