How to measure your dog for a house collar
It's easy to measure your dog for a Petiquette house collar. Ideally, they should be a little looser than a normal collar, and typically sit just below the mid-point of the neck. Follow the guide below and your dog will be have a tailored fit collar in no time at all.
- Wrap a soft tape measure below the mid point of the neck (under where a regular collar would sit). If you don't have a tape measure, a piece of string or wool will do, and lay it against a ruler.
- The tape measure should be a little loose around the fur and not be too tight.
- Select a size as close to the measurement as possible. If it's in between sizes we'd recommend opting for the larger size.
The total length of the collar will include the leather, the o-ring and the clasp.

Many dogs spend their time at home without a collar on, but they still need to carry a tag in case they get out of the house. We make this house collar to be as thin and lightweight as possible. It is a simple leather necklace that carries an ID tag without the bulk of a standard collar.
Each one is handmade in our UK workshop from the same soft Italian calf leather we use for our full collection. The slim profile helps to prevent the leather from matting your dog’s fur or rubbing against their skin. This makes it a practical choice for dogs with sensitive coats or those who prefer to walk in a harness.
While we originally made these for sighthounds like Whippets and Italian Greyhounds, they are now used by dogs of all breeds that need a minimalist way to stay identified indoors.
The size you order is the total length of the collar from end to end. This measurement includes the leather strap, the clasp, and the O-ring.
You can choose from 28 different leather colours and pick a Silver, Rose Gold, or Brass clasp to hold your dog’s tags securely.

EU Orders We're IOSS registered, so for orders up to €150 all VAT and import tax is collected at checkout — no surprise charges on delivery. We're currently unable to process EU orders over €150.
US Orders Trump tariffs apply to all US orders from 29th August 2025. Tariffs and customs duties are calculated and added at checkout, so there are nothing extra to pay on arrival.

If you're not happy with your purchase, we'll refund or exchange any unused, unworn, undamaged item in re-saleable condition. Contact us within 30 days of receiving your order at hello@petiquettecollars.co.uk.
Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty. Postage costs are non-refundable on change-of-mind returns. For US orders, tariffs and duties are non-refundable.
Collar doesn't fit? Don't worry — we can make you a new collar that will fit perfectly. Just contact us within 30 days and return it to us.

How long will my order take?
All collars and leads are made to order. We typically dispatch within 3–7 working days, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 adding 2–3 further working days in the UK. Most orders arrive within 5–10 working days. A dispatch notification is sent by email. If you need a collar by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange my collar if it doesn't fit?
Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. Full details are on our returns and exchanges page at petiquettecollars.co.uk/returns.

Why should my dog wear a house collar instead of a standard collar indoors?
A house collar is designed specifically for 24/7 comfort and safety at home. Unlike standard walking collars, which can be bulky or heavy, our house collars are made from soft Italian calf leather and feature a lightweight, slim profile. This makes them gentle on the neck and ideal for carrying an ID tag without causing fur matting or irritation. Because they are non-adjustable and have no heavy buckles, they provide a secure, low-profile fit that most dogs barely notice they are wearing.
Can a house collar be used for walks?
While your dog can certainly wear a house collar during walks for identification, you should never attach a lead to it. These collars are specifically designed to be lightweight and slim for indoor comfort. Because they are made for holding ID tags rather than restraint, the leather and hardware are not built to withstand the force of a dog pulling on a lead. For safety, always use a dedicated walking collar or harness when your dog is on a lead.
