What Is a House Collar?
A house collar is a lightweight collar with a single job: to hold your dog's ID tag. There's no lead attachment, no heavy hardware, just a comfortable, well-made collar that your dog barely notices they're wearing.
Dogs spend a lot of their lives indoors. On the sofa, in the garden, asleep under the kitchen table. And yet plenty of them wear a collar built to handle a lead, a lunge, and the full chaos of an off-lead park on a Saturday morning. A house collar is the sensible alternative. It keeps your dog's identification visible and accessible without asking them to wear a collar designed for a completely different purpose.
Under UK law, dogs must wear identification when out in public. Many owners keep a house collar on at home too, so their dog's ID tag is always there if it's needed. Some dogs wear a house collar alongside a harness for walks. Others wear one instead of a walking collar when they're pottering around the house and garden.

Available in 14 colours with brass, stainless steel, or rose gold hardware, in two sizes covering necks from 8" up to 28". A practical, versatile choice and a particularly good option for larger breeds or dogs who spend a lot of time outdoors.
Slip-On Leather ID Collar
A closed loop that slips over the head, with a fixed O-ring at the centre for attaching your dog's tag. No buckle, no clasp, nothing to fiddle with. Handmade from soft Italian leather in 28 colours, with a smooth, rounded finish.
Breakaway Leather House Collar
A lot of owners worry about leaving a collar on their dog unsupervised. The Breakaway Leather House Collar is made for exactly that concern. Crafted from soft Italian leather over a paracord core, fitted with a safety breakaway clasp that releases at around 2kg of pressure if the collar gets snagged on something at home. How to Measure Your Dog for a House Collar
How you measure depends on the style of house collar you're ordering.
House collars with a clasp
These collars fasten with a clasp and do not need to go over your dog's head. They're designed to sit more loosely than a walking collar, hanging a little lower on the neck rather than fitting close to it. Think of it like a necklace for your dog.
To measure, place a soft tape measure loosely around the middle of your dog's neck where the collar will sit. The tape should not be tight. Note the measurement, then choose the size closest to it when ordering. The collar's total length includes the leather, the O-ring, and the clasp. If you're unsure how loose the fit should be, we're happy to advise.
Slip-on house collars
This includes both fixed slip-on styles and adjustable slip-on styles. Because these collars don't open, they need to be able to slide comfortably over your dog's head.
You'll need two measurements. First, measure around the widest part of your dog's head, usually around and just in front of the ears. Second, measure around the point on the neck where the collar will sit. Keep the tape snug against the fur but not tight.
Compare the two measurements and order the size closest to the largest one. This ensures the collar will slip on and off comfortably without being too loose around the neck once it's in place.
