How to measure your dog for a house collar
It's easy to measure your dog for a Petiquette house collar. Ideally, they should be a little looser than a normal collar, and typically sit just below the mid-point of the neck. Follow the guide below and your dog will be have a tailored fit collar in no time at all.
- Wrap a soft tape measure below the mid point of the neck (under where a regular collar would sit). If you don't have a tape measure, a piece of string or wool will do, and lay it against a ruler.
- The tape measure should be a little loose around the fur and not be too tight.
- Select a size as close to the measurement as possible. If it's in between sizes we'd recommend opting for the larger size.
The total length of the collar will include the leather, the o-ring and the clasp.

The Breakaway Leather House Collar is a lightweight, everyday collar designed with your dog’s comfort and safety in mind. It’s made with a soft paracord core, then carefully wrapped in smooth Italian leather in over two dozen vibrant colours.
Rather than using a traditional buckle, this collar is fitted with a safety breakaway clasp. If the collar ever gets snagged on furniture or catches on something at home, the clasp will release with around 2kg of pressure, which can help prevent injuries if your dog becomes caught on something. The collar is better suited to smaller dogs, as the buckle may come apart on larger dogs.
An O-ring in your choice of stainless steel or rose gold makes it easy to attach an ID tag. Whether your dog wears it all day or just at home, it’s a stylish and practical option that keeps safety at the heart of the design.
Each collar is made to order by neck size and is ideal for dogs who don’t need to wear a walking collar indoors, but still need ID.

EU Orders We're IOSS registered, so for orders up to €150 all VAT and import tax is collected at checkout — no surprise charges on delivery. We're currently unable to process EU orders over €150.
US Orders US Import tariffs apply to all US orders from 29th August 2025. Tariffs and customs duties are calculated and added at checkout, so there are nothing extra to pay on arrival.

If you're not happy with your purchase, we'll refund or exchange any unused, unworn, undamaged item in re-saleable condition. Contact us within 30 days of receiving your order at hello@petiquettecollars.co.uk.
Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty. Postage costs are non-refundable on change-of-mind returns. For US orders, tariffs and duties are non-refundable.
Collar doesn't fit? Don't worry, we can make you a new collar that will fit perfectly. As long as the collar is unworn you're able to return it within 30 days for an exchange. Please note, as all collars are handmade to order, we do not offer refunds on any size differences on exchanges.

How long will my order take?
All collars and leads are made to order. We typically dispatch within 7–10 working days, with Royal Mail Tracked 48 adding 2–3 further working days in the UK. Please allow approximately 9–13 working days in total for UK delivery. A dispatch notification is sent by email. If you need a collar by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange my collar if it doesn't fit?
Yes. If the collar doesn't fit when it arrives, you can exchange it for a different size. Full details are on our returns and exchanges page at petiquettecollars.co.uk/returns.
What leather colours can my collar be made in?
Your leather collar can be made in 28 Italian leather colours: Acorn, Baby Blue, Baby Pink, Black, Bottle Green, Candyfloss, Chianti, Daffodil, Dove, Dusky Pink, Easter Rose, Jaffa, Lime, Madeira Blue, Mushroom, Olive, Peanut Butter, Purple Velvet, Royal Purple, Ruby, School Grey, Shamrock, Signal Blue, Spearmint, Teal, Thistle, White, and Willow.
Why should my dog wear a house collar instead of a standard collar indoors?
A house collar is designed specifically for 24/7 comfort and safety at home. Unlike standard walking collars, which can be bulky or heavy, our house collars are made from soft Italian calf leather and feature a lightweight, slim profile. This makes them gentle on the neck and ideal for carrying an ID tag without causing fur matting or irritation. Because they are non-adjustable and have no heavy buckles, they provide a secure, low-profile fit that most dogs barely notice they are wearing.
Can a house collar be used for walks?
While your dog can certainly wear a house collar during walks for identification, you should never attach a lead to it. These collars are specifically designed to be lightweight and slim for indoor comfort. Because they are made for holding ID tags rather than restraint, the leather and hardware are not built to withstand the force of a dog pulling on a lead. For safety, always use a dedicated walking collar or harness when your dog is on a lead.

Fantastic
This breakaway collar was exactly what I was looking for.
Mind mind is put at rest knowing her tag is always on her whilst the breakaway removing risk of having a collar cause strangulation. It doesn’t seem to require too much force to snap.
The leather & the seem is perfectly soft and my girl has took to wearing her collar and tag straight away as she wears a harness when out.
It felt quite expensive with postage for a collar but I feel it worth it in the end. Some cheaper collars were limited colours I didn’t like and needed more than 5kg of force for breakaway to work… with my small girl that just wasn’t suitable.

Safely house collars
Excellent quality as always. I feel very reassured that my two whippets are now wearing the breakaway safety collars in the house. They look just as stunning as the original rolled leather house collars but if they play too roughly together the collars will come off preventing any nasty accidents.

Nice collar
I received my collar a week ago and although it is good quality leather the clasp comes undone really easily. So much so that it came off iny dogs bed and she has chewed the plastic clasp so it's now useless. £20 down the drain.

Im confused why more companies are not making these.
The collar it's self is amazing, even without the added critical safety feature, I would buy just for the craftsmanship.
Colour choice was great.

Excellent collar for my pom
I've been looking for a breakaway collar for my pom for ages and this one is amazing, it's so lightweight he doesn't notice it at all and is completely comfortable wearing it. The colour is lovely and it's really easy to put on and take off if needed. Perfect for just keeping his ID on without fear he could get injured from the collar getting pulled on etc because it'll just break off (without breaking the collar!).

COMFORTABLE COLLAR
I ordered two breakaway collars - they are well made and comfortable. Both my my dogs are happy to wear them. I have struggled in the past to find suitable collars and had to resort to buying nylon cat collars from my local pet shop. The range of colours are all lovely. Very easy to order on website. Delivery was by the date specified. Really happy with quality of product and the service received from this fabulous company.

BEAUTIFUL COLLAR
Well made, quality leather collar. Really liked that there was a huge selection of colours and styles on the website. I ordered two breakaway collars - a red one and a teal one, for my Chihuahuas. Barnaby and Jasper.
The advice regarding measuring was really helpful. The fit and comfort for them is perfect.
However, I have had to order a replacement collar for Barnaby, as being the rascal he is, while grooming him, he got the collar and chewed the clasp while my back was turned.

Fantastic product
Ordered this for my lurcher as we moved house and I was worried about him getting out in a new area. His walking collar is quite bulky so I wanted something comfortable for him to wear around the house which was safe.
This is a fantastic quality collar, soft and flexible and the breakaway gives me peace of mind. It also looks amazing ?

Just what I’ve waited for
I’ve hoped for breakaway house collars for ages, and was delighted to see these. I immediately ordered 5 for my dogs, each a different color. They are lovely, and so light weight!
I quickly realized that my young dogs, who are very grabby with each other in play, were not good candidates for wearing these in the yard. And I was right – I accidentally let one out with his collar on and it came off in the yard. AND he chewed off the clasp on one end…I am SO disappointed with mysel!!. Not even a week and one is already ruined! So be careful if you buy these; the youngster will have to go without, and the two other boys will have to wait a bit (until I’m trustworthy) til they can wear theirs.
