Our rolled leather dog collar is the perfect choice for long-coated breeds. Designed to help reduce matting and hair breakage, it’s handmade in our Northumberland workshop from soft Italian leather, shaped to sit smoothly against your dog’s coat.
We start with a strong inner core for durability, then wrap it in supple leather and stitch it into a rounded profile. While not a traditional rolled collar, it’s carefully shaped to deliver the same coat-friendly benefits, with a discreet flat edge where the stitching sits.
Choose from 28 vibrant and classic colours to match your dog’s style. Fitted with rust-proof stainless steel hardware, it’s built to last while remaining gentle on the skin and coat.
Available in two slim widths to suit small to medium breeds. Use our measuring guide below to find your dog’s perfect fit.
Save this coat-friendly collar to your board for the perfect long-haired dog accessory.
Is a rolled leather collar good for long-haired dogs?
Yes. Rolled leather collars are designed to be kinder to dogs with long or silky coats because their rounded shape reduces friction against the hair. This helps to minimise matting, tangling, and breakage, which can sometimes happen with flat collars. Our version is made from soft Italian leather wrapped around a reinforced inner core, so it’s both gentle on the coat and durable enough for everyday wear.
What type of collar is recommended for dogs with sensitive skin?
For dogs with sensitive skin, a soft, high-quality leather collar is one of the best choices. Leather naturally softens with use, moulding to the shape of your dog’s neck for a comfortable fit. The smooth, rounded edges on our rolled leather collars help prevent rubbing and irritation, making them suitable even for breeds prone to skin sensitivity.
How do I measure my dog for a rolled collar?
To measure your dog for a rolled leather collar, use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the base of your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. Make sure the tape is in contact with the coat but not tight enough to restrict movement. Note the measurement in inches or centimetres, then choose the size that places your dog’s neck measurement near the middle of the size range. This ensures a comfortable fit with room for adjustment.
Are rolled leather collars strong enough for daily use?
Yes, as long as they’re well made. Our rolled leather dog collars feature a strong internal core wrapped in Italian leather and secured with machine stitching. The stainless steel buckle and D-ring are rust-proof and robust, making the collar suitable for daily wear, including walks on the lead. While they’re especially popular with owners of long-haired breeds, they work well for any small to medium dog that needs a durable, comfortable collar.
Use a soft tape measure (or a piece of string) and wrap it around the middle of your dog’s neck.
Make sure it’s fairly snug against the fur but not tight. No need to add fingers underneath – we’ve already allowed for a comfy fit in the sizing.
This is your dog’s neck measurement.
Now check our size chart and choose a collar where your dog’s neck measurement is closest to the smallest hole in the size range.
Example:
If your dog’s neck measures 10", you’ll need a collar listed as 9"–11", as this adjusts between 9 and 11 inches.
PLEASE DON’T MEASURE THE FULL LENGTH OF AN EXISTING COLLAR – this is not your dog’s neck measurement and will result in a collar that’s too big.
If you feel your dog has a neck measurement that is in between sizes and you're unsure which would be the best fit, please get in touch and we'll be able to advise.
If you have an existing collar that's a perfect fit, then follow the guide below:
Take a look at our size chart below and choose a size where the measurement you have taken from your existing collar falls as close to the middle of the range.
For example, if the length of your existing collar from the end of the leather to the hole you use is 13", then you'd choose a size 12" - 14". This will give you room to tighten or slacken the collar.
If you're at all unsure, please do get in touch. We'd rather you receive the perfect fit for your dog first time.
