Will the print last with daily use?

Yes. The Pastel Prism design is applied using a UV printer with flexible, durable inks directly onto the leather surface. This isn't a printed paper insert or a heat-transfer sticker, the ink bonds with the leather and flexes with it as the collar moves. The collar is designed and worn as a daily collar, not just for special occasions. That said, like any leather collar, avoiding prolonged soaking (think sea swimming or extended submersion) will keep it looking its best for longer.

Which sighthound breeds does this collar fit?

The nine sizes cover the full range of sighthound builds, from the smallest Italian Greyhound (neck from 7.5 inches) through whippets and standard greyhounds, up to the largest greyhound size (neck up to 17 inches). It's also suitable for lurchers, salukis, Afghan hounds, borzoi, and any other breed with a long neck and a head narrower than the neck. If you have a breed that doesn't fall neatly into one of those categories, a big lurcher cross, for example, get in touch and we'll help you work out the right size.

How do I clean a printed leather collar

Keeping one of our printed leather sighthound collars clean is easy. Simply wipe the collar gently with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any muck and grime. For more stubborn marks, add a drop of washing up liquid to your sponge and clean the collar with that. Make sure you remove any soap residue after cleaning, and allow the collar to dry naturally away from direct heat. As with all leather, to keep it in tip-top condition, it's a good idea to use a little leather balsam or unscented moisturiser every now and again.

Why do sighthounds need a wide collar?

Sighthounds such as greyhounds, whippets, Italian greyhounds, salukis, lurchers, and similar breeds, have necks that are wider than their heads, which means a standard buckle collar sits loosely and can slip off when they reverse or shake their head. More importantly, their long, fine necks are vulnerable when they lunge suddenly on the lead. A narrow collar can concentrate pressure on the windpipe and blood vessels in a way that a wide collar doesn't. The tapered sighthound shape, wide across the throat, narrowing to a slim buckle end, spreads that pressure across a greater surface area, making it both safer and more comfortable for dogs who have a habit of spotting something interesting and going for it at full speed.

Description

With soft seafoam, teal and powder blue panels, warmed with blush pink and lilac, the Pastel Prism Printed Leather Sighthound Collar is inspired by stained glass geometry. Fine metallic lines break the design into crisp shapes, creating a clean, modern pattern with a gentle pastel palette.

We print the design directly onto the leather using our UV printer, then finish the collar by hand in our workshop. It’s made for real walks, with a smooth lining and stainless steel hardware.

The Pastel Prism Sighthound Collar can be made in sizes to fit any breed of sighthound, from Italian Greyhounds and Whippets through to Greyhounds, Lurchers, and every breed in between.

Because our UV printer has a maximum print bed size, the full-length printed design isn’t possible on the longest collar. For the 15″ to 17″ greyhound size, the printed design covers the wide central section of the collar, the part that sits across the throat and is most visible when worn, and the straps are made from rich brown Italian leather. (please note, images are for reference only, actual print design will be the one chosen)

How to Measure for a Leather Sighthound Collar

How to measure for a Sighthound collar

Whether you have an Italian Greyhound, a Whippet, Greyhound, lurcher or any other sighthound breed, the method of measuring for one of our leather sighthound collars is the same.

Use a soft tape measure and follow these simple steps:

Place the tape around the top of your dog’s neck—just behind the ears and under the chin.
Keep the tape snug, but not tight.
Note the measurement in inches or centimetres.

This is the narrowest part of your dog’s head, and measuring here helps reduce the risk of your Sighthound slipping out of their collar.

Tip: Choose a size where your dog’s neck measurement is closest to the smallest hole in the size range. This gives you a bit of room for adjustment.

Take a look at our size chart in the product description and choose a size where the measurement you have taken from your existing collar falls as close to the middle of the range.

For example, if the length of your existing collar from the end of the leather to the hole you use is 12", then you'd choose a size 11" - 13". This will give you room to tighten or slacken the collar.

If you're at all unsure, please do get in touch. We'd rather you receive the perfect fit for your dog first time.
