A wide leather dog collar with a fashionable twist

A wide leather dog collar design for those who want something a little different but don’t want to go over the top. The Strip leather collar measures a wider 1.25″ (30mm) and tapers to a narrower strap and buckle depending on the collar size, so is perfect for dogs with longer necks.

Choose a base Italian leather colour for the collar, then a second collar for the leather strip that will be sewn onto the centre of the collar. With over two dozen colours of leather, there are plenty of colour combinations that you could choose from.

How to measure for a leather dog collar

To measure your dog's neck for a leather collar, simply follow these steps:

  • Have your dog stand comfortably, hopefully they won’t wriggle too much, but if they do, then bribery with some tasty treats can help.
  • Wrap a soft tape measure or piece of string around the middle of your dog's neck so that it's touching the fur but it's not tight around the neck and make a note of this measurement.

  • Choose the collar where the smallest number in the size range is as close to the neck measurement as possible.

  • For example, the measurement is 11", so choose the 10.5"-12.5".

Alternatively, if you have an existing leather collar:

  • Measure the distance from the butt of the collar (where the buckle prong sticks out of the leather) to the hole that you use.  
  • Pick a collar where the length you've measured is roughly in the middle of the collar size range.
